Patient Assessment Submission Deadline To Change
You’ll have less time to submit and correct OASIS and HIS data, under a new Medicare policy. “The current [Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services] policy for submission of patient assessment records allows providers to submit records for up to 36 months from the assessment target date,” CMS says in an April 30 message to providers. “Effective October 1, 2019, the CMS policy for patient assessment submission will be changed to 24 months from the assessment target date. The policy change applies to new, modified, and inactivated records,” the message says. “Even though CMS stresses that the HIS is not an assessment tool it is a data extraction tool, it is still part of the quality record submissions to which this policy applies,” the National Association for Home Care & Hospice points out in its newsletter.
