PACE Organizations are the latest provider group to get COVID-19 guidance from CMS. A three-page document from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services says it will give POs leeway to make changes that would normally violate PACE rules, such as conducting assessments via telehealth and limiting PACE center attendance to stop the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus. “These organizations serve older adults who often have serious chronic medical conditions,” CMS notes in a release. The guidance at www.cms.gov/files/document/covid-19-pace-memo-3-17-20.pdf will help protect “the seniors who rely on PACE Centers as healthcare providers in their daily lives,” CMS Administrator Seema Verma says.
