Industry Note:

One More County Plans To End Home Care

The La Crosse County Health Depart-ment in Wisconsin is considering phasing out its home health care services by mid-2014 to save $150,000 to $200,000 a year, reports the La Crosse Tribune newspaper. "The reimbursement from Med-icare and BadgerCare is too low to cover the costs," said Health Director Doug Mormann, according to the Tribune. "The county’s property tax has been subsidizing it for a number of years."

Non-government-owned agencies are ex-pected to take over the agency’s caseload, which averages 22 patients per week, the newspaper says.
