OIG Runs Hundreds Of HH Investigations A Year

If you are wondering just how deeply the feds are diving into home care fraud and abuse, a new report may give you an idea. At the end of fiscal year 2018, the HHS Office of Inspector General had 720 open home health agency investigations, according to the agency’s annual report on Medicaid Fraud Control Units. In the same year, MCFUs helped secure 27 HHA convictions with recoveries totaling $17.8 million and 17 civil settlements and judgments with reaching $25.9 million, says the report at https://oig.hhs.gov/oei/reports/oei-09-19-00230.pdf.
