Ohio HHA Owner Draws 2-Year Prison Sentence

Alpine Nursing Care Inc. owner Divyesh "David" C. Patel has drawn a two-year prison sentence for a $1.9 million Medicare and Medicaid fraud scheme. North Randall, Ohio-based Alpine employed Belita Mable Bush as the office manager and director of provider services from 2006 to 2009, even though Patel knew that Bush had been previously convicted of a health care-related felony that excluded Bush from Medicare and Medicaid, the Department of Justice says in a release.

Patel knew Bush falsified documents for home care services never provided, or that were provided by a home health aide that had previous criminal convictions excluding them from providing health services in people’s houses, according to court documents. Patel faces sentencing next month.
