Home care will see some representation in the new Long Term Care Commission appointed by President Obama. The president has nominated Carol Raphael, former head of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, to the commission. Raphael also formerly served on the Medicare Payment Ad-visory Commission.
“I am proud that such experienced and committed individuals have agreed to serve the American people in these important roles,” President Obama says of Raphael and her fellow nominees, in a release.
“The 15-member commission will have‑only six months‑to send Congress recommendations on how best to provide long-term care for the elderly and disabled,” stresses the Visiting Nurse Associa-tions of America.
