By the end of the month, Wilson County in North Carolina will sell its nearly 50-year-old home health agency to In-Home Partnership, a joint venture between Duke LifePoint health system and LHC Group, for $2 million, reports The Wilson Times. HealthView Capital, a privately held company based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, also offered $2 million, but county commissioners moved forward with LHC, the newspaper says. Commissioners decided on the sale despite a grassroots community campaign opposing it. The agency was operating at a budget deficit due to Medicare cuts and a Medicaid rate freeze, says the Times.
