Industry Note:

NLRB Says You Must Post Union Information

Don't forget to comply with a new National Labor Relations Board rule requiring employers to post union information starting next month. "The new notice posting rule requires that employers subject to the NLRA -- which covers virtually every private employer -- post a notice to employees describing their rights under the NLRA to organize and bargain collectively with their employer," explains attorney Howard Bernstein with Neal Gerber Eisenberg in Chicago. The rule takes effect April 30. "Employers should ensure their union-related and general employment policies are up-to-date and in compliance," Bernstein advises. "Employers should continue to communicate with employees to reinforce their right to oppose unionization, and employers should also prepare their workplace for increased union activity to offset the potential impact of the new notice." More information about the requirement and a poster download are available on the NLRB's website at www.nlrb.gov/poster.
