Mid-size home care providers secured a breather on Affordable Care Act health insurance premiums when President Obama signed the PACE Act Oct. 7.
Without the legislative intervention, the “small employer” definition under the ACA would have expanded nationally to include employers with up to 100 employees on Jan. 1. The Protecting Affordable Coverage for Employees Act does still give states the option of increasing the size of “small employers” to 100 employees if they choose, though.
“The change could keep premiums from rising for home health and hospice agencies with 51-100 employees that offer health insurance,” notes the National Association for Home Care & Hospice.
