Industry Note:

Medicare Works On Post-Acute Resource Use Measures

Cross-setting drug regimen review measure is on its way.

Home health agencies should expect to stack up well when it comes to new cross-setting measures under development.

Medicare contractors are working on development of “Medicare Spending Per Beneficiary (MSPB) measures for Post-Acute Care (PAC) Providers,” including Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs), Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs), Long-Term Care Hospitals (LTCHs), and HHAs, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announces. Contractors are taking nominations for Technical Expert Panel members until Oct. 2 at www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/MMS/TechnicalExpert Panels.htm. Development of the resource use measures are part of the IMPACT Act, CMS notes.

CMS is also taking comments on another cross-setting measure, “Drug Regimen Review Conducted with Follow-Up for Identified Issues.” More information is at www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/MMS/CallforPublicComment.html. The comment period closes Oct. 2.
