MBI Usage Continues To Climb

Don’t fall behind your peers in transitioning over to using Medicare Beneficiary identifier rather than Health Insurance Claim Numbers. In MAC CGS’s region, South Dakota had the highest percentage of claims using the MBI for April, while Washington, D.C., had the highest percentage of hospice claims, the HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor reveals on its website. “CGS encourages home health and hospice providers to begin submitting the MBI before the end of the transition period, December 31, 2019,” it says. “CGS is monitoring MBI submissions to ensure providers are ready for this transition.” See state MBI stats at https://cgsmedicare.com/hhh/pubs/news/2019/0519/cope12541.html.
