MAC Readies HHA Claims Adjustments For Claims Glitch, It Warns
Watch out for adjustments to your home health agency claims, and they could go either way.
Problem: “On January 1, 2016, Change Request (CR) 9212 reactivated reason code 37071; however, it caused certain Home Health (HH) claims to price incorrectly,” HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA says on its website. “HH claims impacted by this issue may have either been underpaid or overpaid.”
Solution: “The Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS) Maintainer corrected this problem on March 7,” Palmetto says.
Within 60 days, Palmetto will adjust affected claims that were processed claims from Jan. 1 to March 7; were Type of Bill (TOB) 32x (excluding TOB 322); and in which “HCPCS field (the provider submitted HCPCS code) matches Return HIPPS1 (HIPPS code returned from the QIES database),” Palmetto explains.
