Hospices served by one HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor are getting a break from some TPE review — but not for long. “Palmetto GBA announces the refinement of the Routine Home Care Targeted Probe and Educate (TPE) edit for hospice,” it says. The MAC will suspend claim selection for the edit while it’s undergoing revision. The refinement aims to “focus the specificity of the editing and claim selection to place of service where the Routine Home Care is being given as defined by [HHS Office of Inspector General] reports and internal data analytics,” Palmetto says. Do this: “Providers who have pending ADRs should respond with documentation to support the adjudication of the current suspended claims. Providers will be given credit for the reviews prior to the refinement of the edit when Palmetto GBA resumes the claim selection for this TPE action,” the MAC says. But Palmetto tentatively plans to resume the edit on Feb. 13 and plans to publish in its “Active Edits” article the places of service targeted with this edit.
