Lawmakers Look For 'Doc Fix' Funds

Hold onto your wallets -- Congress expects to approve a potentially reimbursement-draining "doc fix" before the year's end, according to press reports. Lawmakers will be searching for funding to avert the 27 percent cut to physicians' Medicare payment rates set to hit Jan. 1 -- and the home care industry with its relatively high average profit margins and high-profile fraud cases may make an easy target. Legislators have approved a doc fix bill every year for 10 years, press reports note.
