Kindred Ups West Coast Home Health Presence

Long-term care giant Kindred Healthcare Inc. continues to expand its home care presence on the West Coast. Earlier this year, Kindred bought four California locations from CareSouth Homecare Professionals (see Eli's HCW, Vol. XX, No. 14, p. 112). Now the Louisville, Ky.-based company is buying 27 locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Kindred will pay $51 million for Professional HealthCare, which is owned by private equity firm Mainsail Partners, the company says in a release. Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Professional, which provides home health, hospice, private duty nursing services and durable medical equipment, generates about $53 million in annual revenues, Kindred says. "The Professional transaction adds to the size and scale of our growing home health and hospice business," Kindred CEO Paul Diaz says in the release.
