About two-and-a-half years after Kindred Healthcare Inc. took over Gentiva, the Louisville, Ky.-based company is now finding itself in the center of takeover speculation. Multiple press reports cite acquisition rumors. A Reuters article names Humana or private equity firms Apollo Global Management or Blackstone Group as possible buyers. Kindred previously stated its intention to shed its skilled nursing facility business line, but hasn’t confirmed the home health-side rumors, reports Louisville Business First. Kindred’s stock price fell from a $26.66 per share high in June 2014 to a $6.15 per share low in November 2016 — a 76.9 percent fall, the newspaper says. At press time Kindred shares were trading at $9.30, after an apparent bump from the takeover rumors.
