Don’t forget that the amount in controversy levels have ticked up this year, reminds HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA. "The amount that must remain in controversy for [Administrative Law Judge] hearing requests filed on or before December 31, 2012, is $130," Palmetto says. "This amount increases to $140 for ALJ hearing requests filed on or after January 1, 2013."
Likewise, the amount that must remain in controversy for Federal District Court review re-quests filed on or before Dec. 31, 2012 is $1,350, while the amount increases to $1,400 for appeals to Federal District Court filed on or after Jan. 1, 2013.
