Inadequate Medical Supervision Leads to Settlement

A Maryland HHA will pay nearly $160,000 in a settlement to resolve false Medicaid claims, according to the Maryland Attorney General’s office. All About You Health Care Services, Inc. based in Milford allegedly submitted false claims to Medicaid for services performed without adequate medical supervision.

Maryland AG Douglas Gansler had filed a lawsuit in February 2012 against All About You, and the parties reached the settlement agreement via court-ordered mediation. The $159,044 settlement includes both restitution to the state’s Medicaid program and penalties.

• The OIG is soliciting proposals and recommendations for safe harbor provisions, as well as for developing new OIG Special Fraud Alerts, according to a recent notice published in the Federal Register. The annual solicitation notice is mandated under the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act and seeks ideas for developing new and modifying existing safe harbor provisions under the federal anti-kickback statute.
