Industry Note:

Illinois' Largest Nonprofit Buys Health System's HH, Hospice Units

JourneyCare, Illinois’ largest non-profit hospice and palliative care provider, has purchased Northwestern Memorial HealthCare’s Home Health and Hospice programs for undisclosed terms, the Glenview-based company says in a release.

The acquisition “significantly grows JourneyCare’s service capacity in counties such as DeKalb, Kane, and DuPage and adds home health services to its family of services,” JourneyCare adds.

JourneyCare previously had strategic partnerships with Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, and Centegra Health System, which became part of Northwestern last year, reports Crain’s Chicago Business newspaper. In 2015, JourneyCare merged with two other hospice companies to create the state’s largest non-profit in the market, Crain’s says.
