Industry Note:

Hospital To Shed HHA

Another hospital is making plans to shed its home care business. Pauls Valley General Hospital in Oklahoma will seek a buyer, a hospital exec said.

"I just don’t see where we have the re-sources that we would need to turn that around to be competitive," said PVGH CEO Jim Clough, ac-cording to the Pauls Valley Daily Democrat. "It would be very, very expensive… We don’t have the marketing program, we don’t have the cash."

A market crowded with competition is one of the reasons the hospital-based agency could run up losses of $300,000 annually, Clough said. The hospital plans to keep its hospice program, however, the Democrat reports.
