Industry Note:

Hospital Shuts Down Home Health Division

Another hospital is closing its home care division under tight margins. Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, Ore., will end home care services at the end of April after 25 years of operation, citing decreased Medicare reimbursement amid increasing costs, reports The Daily Astorian newspaper.

Providence Seaside Hospital, the only other hospital-based home care provider in Clatsop County, will take on CMH’s 20 or so patients, the newspaper says. Providence has an average census of about 100 patients, it says.

Columbia Memorial Hospital will continue to operate its Lower Columbia Hospice division, the newspaper adds.
