Home Health Aide Is Most Sleep Deprived Job In U.S.

Not sure why your aide staff seem unmotivated? Perhaps it's a lack of sleep. According to data from a National Center for Health Statistics survey, home health aides get the least amount of sleep of any profession. They log an average of six hours and 57 minutes of sleep per night, says a study of the NCHS data issued by mattress company Sleepy's. Lawyers and police officers were a close second and third, respectively, for getting the least sleep. "We encourage people to take stock of their sleep habits and make improvements where they can," says Robert Oexman of the Sleep to Live Institute in Joplin, Mo., and a consultant for Sleepy's.
