A recent murder in North Carolina highlights the dangers visiting staff may face in delivering home care services.
Bayada nurse Wendy Johnson was shot in the parking lot of her client’s apartment complex in Cary on the night of Sept. 5, reports the Raleigh News & Observer. "She was providing care so the parents could sleep at night," the agency’s director of nursing told the newspaper.
Suspect Daniel Remington, who has a long criminal history, told police that he shot Johnson as she was exiting her car ,when she tried to stop him from taking her purse, reports WRAL News.
