Industry Note:

Home Care Mergers & Acquisitions Continue

Reimbursement uncertainties such as sequestration cuts don’t seem to be impacting mer-gers and acquisitions activities too severely.

Newly formed
Sinfonía Healthcare in Tucson, Ariz., is in the process of acquiring four home health providers in town, thanks to $20 million in capital raised by founder Fletcher J. McCusker, reports the Arizona Daily Star
. Sinfonia hopes to expand into New Mexico, Florida, and California, the newspaper says. The immediate purchases will gain the company 50 employees.

And Virginia Home Health and Hospice Care in Rural Retreat, Va., is changing hands — and names. After a purchase by Steve Mize of Team Nurse Inc., the agency will be known as Virginia Home Health & Hospice, reports The Bland County Messenger newspaper.

Plus: Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice and Palliative Care of Southern Cali-fornia and Inland Hospice, both in in Claremont, Calif., have merged, reports the Daily Bulletin newspaper. The VNA was founded in 1952 and Inland in 1979.
