Home Care Aides Aging With Their Clients

You may worry about the aging of your aide workers, but that's just how your clients may like it.More than a quarter of aides are 55 or older, a share expected to rise to a third by 2020, reported National Public Radio in its Morning Edition broadcast. The show profiled an 80-year-old aide taking care of an 86-year-old patient."A number of our clients will ask for a more mature worker," Marla Lahat, who heads Home Care Partners in Washington, D.C., told the program. "Sometimes they're a little bit afraid of the younger generation, and they know that a worker that's closer to their age is somebody that they feel more comfortable with and more trusting."Older workers have lower turnover, the segment added.
