HHA Owner Gets 8-Year Sentence For Medicaid Fraud, Grand Theft

An HHA owner was sentenced to eight years in prison for Medicaid fraud totaling more than $100,000 of false claims, according to the Florida Attorney General’s Office. Titilayo Osholaja Dokun, the owner of Leon County-based Capital City Area Care, was convicted on four counts of Medicaid provider fraud and grand theft.

Dokun allegedly overbilled Medicaid for more service hours than provided and for services to beneficiaries who were not enrolled in an authorized home and community-based program, the AG’s office says. In addition to her eight-year prison sentence, Dokun was also sentenced to 22 years probation and to pay more than $100,000 in restitution to the state’s Medicaid program.
