HHA Fraudsters Funnel Patient Kickbacks Through Charity

Mother and son Martha and Luis Lima have pled guilty to Medicare charges, the Miami Herald reports. Martha opened Continuous Home Care Services in Miami in 2005 and founded a charity, Bridge of Love and Hope.
Prosecutors accused the Limas of paying kickbacks to physicians and patient recruiters, paying kickbacks to patients through the charity, and diverting fraud proceeds for personal use, among other misdeeds. The government is seeking $16.3 million in forfeiture, the Herald says.
