HH Fraudster Gets 4 years

A former Detroit HHA operator has received a four-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to Medicare fraud. Muhammad Shahab helped Patient Choice Home Healthcare Inc. and All American Home Care Inc. bill Medicare for home care services that were never rendered or medically unnecessary, the Department of Justice says in a release.

Shahab paid kickbacks to beneficiaries and doctors and employed therapists to provide false documentation. Shahab was also sentenced to three years’ supervised release and ordered to pay nearly $11 million in restitution.
