Heed NPWT Change

If you bill for Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) Using a Disposable Device, don’t overlook an important update to claim instructions. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has clarified the description for coding the “TOT UNIT/COV UNIT” field on Type of Bill 34X on page 6, HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA explains on its website. “The change shows that HHAs should report 1 in this field,” the MAC points out.
