Health System Sells Home Care Unit To VNA

VNA Care Network & Hospice of Worcester, Mass., plans to buy UMass Memorial Home Health and Hospice, after the hospital-based program lost $2 million in the current fiscal year. The sale for undisclosed terms will be finalized in the fall.VNA has 650 employees and makes about 275,000 visits per year, reports the Telegram & Gazette newspaper. The UMass HHA has about 150 staff and makes about 113,000 visits annually.UMass employees are welcome to interview for jobs at the VNA, but are not guaranteed jobs there, a VNA rep told the newspaper. The UMass workforce includes 60 unionized nurses.
