Former Gentiva Unit Inks New Managed Care Deal

Home care benefit management company CareCentrix Inc. has inked a deal with Aetna to be the health plan's preferred provider of home health care services to its 1.2 million members in Florida. CareCentrix will work directly with Aetna's providers in Florida to coordinate home care needs, the Hartford, Conn.-based company says in a release. CareCentrix manages home nursing, infusion and medical equipment services for more than 30 million people nationwide through a network of more than 7,000 credentialed home care providers, it says. CareCentrix, which is owned by private equity firm Water Street Healthcare Partners, was sold by Gentiva Health Services Inc. in 2008 for about $147 million. CareCentrix has increased its contracted revenue from $300 million in 2008 to about $750 million in 2011 by securing health plan contracts, the company says in the release.
