A legal fight over a hospice’s name continues in Florida. Background: In June, children’s grief support program Valerie’s House filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Avow Hospice in Naples, claiming Avow’s children’s grief center, named Aunt Janet’s House, is “confusingly similar” and will harm Valerie’s House programs and fundraising. Valerie’s House sent a cease and desist demand to Avow over use of the name, but Avow rejected the demand. Now, Avow has submitted court filings saying Valerie’s House’s suit was motivated by a breakdown in talks over sharing space, reports the Naples Daily News.
