Feds Make Another Record-Breaking Fraud Bust

Another nationwide coordinated fraud bust has taken place. Hundreds of federal agents fanned out around the country, raiding businesses, seizing documents, and arresting Medicare fraud suspects in Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, Detroit, Chicago, Tampa, Fla., and Baton Rouge, La., according to news reports. More than 105 people across the nation were charged with $452 million in Medicare fraud, reports the Associated Press. Medicare suspended payment to 52 providers as part of the investigations. For a change, community mental health centers were the focus of the busts. But the FBI made 19 arrests in the Detroit area, with some suspects related to home care, , reports WDIV on its affiliated website www.clickondetriot.com. Miami arrests also included home care providers, AP says. The busts "are at the heart of an administration-wide commitment to protecting American taxpayers from health care fraud," said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
