Industry Note:

FBI Raids TX Agency

The fraud-fighting hammer appears to be dropping on an Alamo, Texas HHA. Rio Home Care was raided by FBI agents Dec. 7, according to press reports. An FBI spokesperson wouldn't divulge the reason for the raid, but many suspect a Medicare fraud investigation. Rio Home Care owner Richard Troy Nelson is also the former owner of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees hockey team, where the HHA's logo was featured on the ice beneath the team's rink. But Nelson lost his stake in the Bees this summer when he failed to repay $2.1 million to the former owners, reports The (McAllen) Monitor newspaper.
