Industry Note:

Failure To Recertify DDE Access Can Lead To Painful Payment Problems

If you’ve failed to recertify your DDE user access by Sept. 30, prepare to lose your cash flow — and perhaps your reimbursement altogether. “Each year, Medicare providers are required to recertify their Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS) Direct Data Entry (DDE) user access,” reminds HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS in a message to providers.

“Failure to recertify will result in the termination of FISS DDE/PPTN services,” CGS warns. For hospices, “failure to recertify your FISS DDE access will result in the termination of your DDE User ID. This may cause untimely filing of your hospice Notices of Election (NOEs) and an exception may not be granted,” the MAC adds.
