Don't Resubmit These Claims, MAC Instructs
Hold off on resubmitting claims denied for an incarcerated beneficiary. "Please do not resubmit claims denied in error due to incorrect incarceration information in the Medicare Enroll-ment Database," HHH MAC Palmetto GBA in-structs on its website. "CMS is working diligently to develop a process to automate the reprocessing of the claims that were denied in error and resubmitted claims complicate the solution."
To have claims reprocessed under the forthcoming process, "providers will not have to resubmit claims," CMS assures in its Frequently Asked Questions on the matter. "Once the process is finalized and the timeframes for reprocessing are available, CMS will share this information."
