DOL Increases FLSA Penalty Amounts Significantly

Watch out for increased penalty amounts from the Department of Labor taking effect this month. The DOL has issued an interim final rule adjusting its civil money penalty amounts upward significantly.
For example: The DOL Wage and Hour Division’s penalty for willful violations of the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act will increase from $1,100 to $1,894, DOL says in a release.
