If you have fewer than 500 Medicare appeals pending, you may want to listen in on an educational call about the new low-volume appeals option. Reminder: In the fall, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced a new fast track option for appellants with fewer than 500 Medicare Part A or Part B claim appeals pending at Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals and the Medicare Appeals Council at the Departmental Appeals Board, combined, as of Nov. 3, 2017, with a total billed amount of $9,000 or less per appeal (see Eli's HCW, Vol. XXVI, No. 41-42). The catch: "CMS will settle eligible appeals at 62 percent of the net allowed amount," the agency said. CMS is holding a Jan. 9 call to explain the option. Register at https://blh.ier.intercall.com.
