Detroit HHA Owners Face Kickback, Fraud Charges

Two more home health agency owners in Detroit are facing fraud charges. Usha and Dee-pak Shah, owners of Miracle Home Health of Southfield, submitted nearly $9 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare, the FBI says in a release.The Shahs paid kickbacks for Medicare beneficiaries' identifications, according to the in-dictment. And they submitted claims for services that were medically unnecessary or never provided, prosecutors charge."We want providers to know that we are scrutinizing billing records to root out fraud," U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade says in the release."These types of crimes motivated by greed will continue to be investigated vigorously by the FBI and our law enforcement partners," FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Edward Hanko adds in the release.
