Industry Note:

Dallas VNA Ends Home Health Services

The Dallas Visiting Nurse Association will end its home care operations in March, and instead turn its attention to its hospice and private-duty nursing services, reports the Dallas/Fort Worth Healthcare Daily.

VNA President and CEO Robert Carpenter told the Dallas Morning News that too-steep competition with the area’s 1,400 for-profits HHAs is the reason why VNA will cease its home care services. The fierce competition has plagued VNA with increasing losses associated with its home health programs. VNA filed a notice with the Texas Workforce Commission, stating that the company would lay off about 400 employees.
