COVID-19 Survey: LUPAs Have Doubled For Majority Of HHAs

COVID-19 is hitting home health agencies hard, indicates a new survey with 1,119 agencies in all 50 states responding.

In the survey conducted in early to mid-April by the National Association for Home Care & Hospice, 41.5 percent of HHAs nationwide reported serving actively infected COVID-19 patients, NAHC says. In New York and New Jersey, 85.71 percent of HHAs reported serving such patients.

Other findings: 85 percent of respondents reported revenue reductions; 57 percent of all HHAs reported at least a doubling of Low Utilization Payment Adjustments (LUPAs); and more than half of HHAs reported reducing their clinical staff, NAHC says.
