One New York county will be seeing a change in home care. Livingston County has voted to sell its county-run certified HHA to the Visiting Nursing Association of Western New York, re-ports the Livingston County News. And Visiting Nurses Service of Rochester and Monroe County had its certificate of need (CON) application for the county approved last month, the newspaper reports. The VNS expects to be operating by fall, while the sale to the VNA will take 12 to 18 months.
Opponents of the sale, including the agen-cy’s nurses, spoke out passionately on the issue at a county Board of Supervisor’s hearing. But the Board voted eight-to-seven to sell the agency, which had been operating at a deficit for years, the News says.
