Livingston County, N.Y. is planning to sell its county home health agency, reports the Livingston County News. The agency already competes with one other home care company in the area, and three more have filed certificate of need applications with the state, the newspaper notes.
Livingston County, which has maintained an agency since 1966, is one of the few remaining counties in upstate New York that continue to operate its own certified HHA, the News says. The agency has run at a $250,000 deficit for the last five years.
The staff includes two full-time supervisors, 13 full-time nurses, three full-time home health aides and a clerk. Part-time and per-diem employees, who are called in occasionally, include another 13 nurses and six home health aids, the newspaper says. They made 20,000 visits last year.
