CMS Nails Down Waiver Dates For Quality Data Reporting

Waiver extends through end of June — not Sept.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is setting the record straight on the timeline for waiving certain quality data reporting for home health agencies and hospices.

“Home Health and Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey data from January 1, 2020 through September 30, 2020 (Q1-Q3) does not need to be submitted to CMS,” the agency originally said in a March 22 release on COVID-19 quality reporting relief (see Eli’s HCW, Vol. XXIX, No. 11).

But actually, reporting is just suspended through June 30, the end of the second quarter for the calendar year, CMS says in a March 27 memo at www.cms.gov/files/document/guidance-memo-exceptions-and-extensions-quality-reporting-and-value-based-purchasing-programs.pdf.

CMS confirmed the updated date in its April 14 COVID-19 call for home health and hospice.
