If you haven’t felt the impact of Durable Medical Equipment competitive bidding, your time will soon come. CMS is seeking public comment as it moves toward nationwide implementation of the DME Competitive Bidding Program, it says in a re-lease. The bidding program "has saved more than $400 million for beneficiaries and taxpayers in its first two years of operation and is projected to save an additional $17.2 billion for beneficiaries and $25.8 billion for the Medicare program over the next 10 years," CMS crows. CMS must implement a bidding program or bidding prices by 2016.
CMS published a notice seeking comments in the Feb. 26 Federal Register. Comments are due by March 28.
