CMS Gives Benchmark Data To Oxygen Billers

Providers who furnish home oxygen will get a chance to measure themselves against their peers this month. On June 26, CMS will issue national provider Comparative Billing Reports addressing home oxygen services. They will be produced by CMS contractor SafeGuard Services. The reports will "contain actual data-driven tables and graphs with an explanation of findings that compare supplier's billing and payment patterns to those of their peers located in the state and across the nation," CMS explains in a release. "These reports are not available to anyone except the suppliers who receive them."Aim: "These reports are an example of a tool that helps suppliers better understand applicable Medicare billing rules and improve the level of care they furnish to their Medicare patients," CMS says.
