CMS Bumps MA HIPPS Requirement To December

You may get a break from your Medicare Advantage payers on Medicare’s requirement for MA home health claims to contain a HIPPS code as of July 1 (see Eli’s HCW, Vol. XXII, No. 22).
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is delaying an edit enforcing this requirement until Dec. 1, CMS reportedly tells the National Association for Home Care & Hospice. "NAHC urges you to contact your health plans to determine what specifically they are — or are not — requiring with respect to the HIPPS code on claims," the trade group says in its member newsletter.
