Industry Note:

Claims Glitch Recovery Process Depends On MAC

The NPI crosswalk glitch that was causing some agencies to have all their claims returned in error is now fixed, HHH Medicare Administrative Contractors report on their websites.

Two of the MACs are now processing the hung up claims without provider action.

CGS: “Claims affected by this issue were suspended in status/location S MPROV and have been released for continued processing,” CGS says.

NGS: National Government Services “is in the process of recycling the claims that were returned to provider (RTP) in error on 5/17/2017,” the MAC reports. “There is no further action required by providers.”

But Palmetto GBA HHAs will need to take action to resolve the issues created by the glitch. “Providers should resubmit (F9) affected claims,” Palmetto GBA instructs on its website. “Claims submitted via direct data entry (DDE) on May 16 or May 17, 2017, may not be available to view in the claims corrections option RTP file,” the MAC says.

“If they are not present, please rebill as a new submission for processing.”
