A glitch hanging up home health and hospice claims in error has been fixed, but you’ll still need to take steps to get paid for the incorrectly suspended claims. The problem: Final claims and Requests for Anticipated Payment were erroneously Returned to Provider with reason codes 1A005 (patient middle initial invalid) and 1A006 (patient date of birth invalid), notes HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS on its claims processing problems webpage. When providers selected some claims to view, the screen was blank. The solution: A fix for the problem went in Oct. 29, but agencies must deal with their suspended claims. “If you have a RAP or a claim in the RTP file with reason code 1A005 or 1A006, and the claim screens are blank, you will need to re-enter the RAP or claim information, or resubmit a new RAP or claim,” CGS instructs.
