Industry Note:

Check Your RAP Numbers

PEPPER reports aren’t the only Medicare sources for seeing how you stack up to your peers. HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA reminds the home health agencies it serves that they can request Comparative Billing Reports (CBRs) that detail their Request for Anticipated Payment stats.

“This Comparative Billing Report (CBR) focuses on home health agency (HHA) Requests for Anticipated Payment (RAPs) and the percentage of these RAPs that are cancelled,” Palmetto explains. “CBR information is one of the many tools used to assist individual providers in becoming proactive in addressing potential billing issues and performing internal audits to ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines.”

The report contains four measures: The ratio of cancelled RAPs to all claims; the ratio of claims that are greater than 60 days to all claims; the ratio of beneficiaries with two or more admit dates to all beneficiaries; and the ratio of RAPs to all claims.
